Chief Financial Officer 

Dewald van Tonder was appointed Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in November 2016 and is responsible for the Group’s financial and regulatory compliance matters. Dewald’s leadership experience includes Head of Finance (BASF Coating Services Pty Ltd) and previously Financial Manager (BASF Holdings Pty Ltd) responsible for South Africa and Sub-Sahara Africa. Prior to joining Capital Drilling, he was the Group Financial Director for Schauenburg Systems Pty Ltd. He started his professional career with KPMG, where he spent nine years in their Assurance department, the last 4 years as Senior Audit Manager. Dewald has had extensive exposure to the African markets and is a registered Chartered Accountant.  He holds a B.Com (Hons) Chartered Accountancy degree from North-West University in Potchefstroom.


Managing Director - Production

Stuart has over 25 year’s experience in both mining and mining service companies. This experience covers many countries, commodities and mining methods. His roles have ranged from Driller's Offsider to Mine Manager and JV Board Director. Prior to Capital Drilling Stuart was Customer Solutions Manager accountable for the Marketing and Commercial activities in Orica’s Australia-Pacific business. Stuart has a degree in Exploration and Mining Geology and a Masters in Engineering Project Management. He is also a member of the AusIMM. Stuart has a consistent track record of finding and creating value in the drill and blast arena and further down the mining value chain.


Executive General Manager - Commercial

David Payne is Executive General Manager - Commercial having joined the company in 2005. He was previously the General Manager of an Australian based national law firm in addition to holding a number of senior managerial roles with Zurich Financial Services Australia. David has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Murdoch University and a Graduate Diploma in Insurance from Deakin University.


 Executive General Manager – Operations Support  

Graham has 20 years in HR, risk, compliance, project operations, legal advocacy and business services management, having worked in executive roles with leading industry contractors and clients. Prior to Capital Drilling, Graham was the Head of Business Excellence and Compliance for Leighton Asia, India and Offshore and he held executive HR/OHS/Business Services roles in various operating companies within the Leighton Group and Xstrata Copper. Graham holds qualifications in OHS, Labour Law, HR, Business Studies and Education and is Chartered Member with the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Australian Human Resources Institute, and a certified professional with the Safety Institute of Australia.


Executive General Manager - Production 

Jodie North is Executive General Manager - Production, responsible for managing Capital’s production contracts and site personnel and achieving contractual compliance and client satisfaction. Jodie joined the Group in August 2012 as Country Manager for Egypt and was promoted to his current position in October 2016. Jodie has 20 years of experience in both underground and surface operations, in both hardrock and softrock mining. He was previously Aftermarket Operations Manager, West Africa for Sandvik where he was responsible for the effective delivery of aftermarket services to Sandvik customers across all segments in West Africa.


 Group Manager - Assets   

Tony is a highly accomplished professional with a multifaceted work history combined with a comprehensive exposure to underground, surface mining, maintenance and business development management, with over 25 years in Australia, PNG, Philippines and Africa. Tony has a proven ability to enhance functional excellence through the development and implementation of maintenance management systems and protocols.


Group Manager - Logistics

Andy joined the company in January 2013. He has over twenty years’ experience working in the logistics and supply chain industry. He has worked throughout Asia, the Americas & Europe, in addition to gaining extensive experience of the African continent – its peoples, markets and cultures.

Andy has a proven track record of delivering effective results in challenging and adverse environments.  He has specialised in global project implementations and  change management for major  international blue chip companies including Maersk, Reebok & Avon Products. His hands on approach to logistics management & project mobilisations has proven to significantly reduce time, risks and costs for clients.
